What we support
Spreading Awareness
Since the establishment of Spin for Steven, we have been able to to spread our brother Steven Vanover's legacy as well as spread awareness for the rare DSRCT form of sarcoma to over 3,500 bikers. We started with spreading awareness to Greek Life at the University of Louisville and since then have been able to expand share our mission across the Louisville and Kentuckiana areas. We are proud to know that many people across Kentuckiana are familiar with Steven Vanover's name and his story, and will continue to strive to make sure everyone know's about him.

Norton Cancer Institute Genomics Lab
Recently, the Louisville Norton Cancer Institute was able to open the first genomics lab in the state of Kentucky. Thanks to the $250,000 donation by the Steven Vanover Foundation, we now have a lab in Kentucky that can diagnosis cancer several weeks quicker than usual. The next generation sequencing that the lab offers, allows for faster lab results that allow for physicians to provide personalized treatments. With the information at hand, physicians will be able to come up with the appropriate treatment that targets the specific mutations that the patient is dealing with. We are proud to support the Steven Vanover Foundation and contribute to the pledge they made to Norton Cancer Institute. With this technology, we are able to impact so many lives in a positive way. The Norton Cancer Institute is very grateful for the donation, and has honored Steven and the Steven Vanover Foundation with a plaque outside the laboratory.

Clinical Trials at MSK
The Steven Vanover Foundation currently supports one of the few critical trials studying treatments for DSRCT, this one led by Dr. Shakeel Modak at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. The Phase I study was able to investigate the safety and efficacy of incorporating the use of antibodies along with chemotherapy to treat DSRCT. This potential treatment is for less toxic and far more effective than the radiation therapy that has typically been used.

The foundation has been able to donate over $400,000 to this study, thereby making it the largest single contributor the the study's funding. This has allowed the study to move into Phase II where the money is covering the production of these antibodies into treatment. This money is particularly significant since the study receives no government funding. Thus far, results have shown increasing 14-month survival rates.

Funding Education
Steven approached each day with hope and a sense of adventure, vowing not to let adversity keep him from chasing his dreams. The Steven Vanover Foundation has memorialized this legacy by establishing three academic scholarships to help deserving students meet their personal, academic and professional goals. These scholarships are offered at the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering, St. Xavier High School, and St. Albert the Great Catholic School.
