Our Event
Spin for Steven is a cycling fundraising event organized by Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Louisville which benefits the Steven Vanover Foundation. The Steven Vanover Foundation’s mission is to support initiatives that meet the needs of patients and fund the science that leads to a cure for sarcoma and other rare cancers, while preserving the legacy of Steven Vanover. Join us on April 13th for our 8th cycling circuit and celebration in which hundreds of cyclists ride stationary bikes for 15 minutes! This year, we are seeking to raise $90,000 and register 500 bikers!
Who was Steven Vanover
After earning his Masters of Engineering from the University of Louisville’s Speed School in May 2013, Steven Vanover, a dedicated member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, faced an unexpected battle with desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT). Despite an intense regimen of chemotherapy over 15 months, Steven's resilience and sense of humor prevailed. He passed away on March 12, 2015, at the age of 24. Steven's legacy, rooted in love, faith, and uplifting others, endures through the annual Spin for Steven event initiated by Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Louisville in 2017.
